Gutters

Keep the flow of water away from your home.

Importance of Gutter Maintenance for Your Home

Maintaining your gutter system is essential for protecting your home from water damage and ensuring proper water flow away from your house. A well-designed gutter system channels water efficiently, preventing it from pooling around your foundation and protecting the exterior of your home from potential damage.

Design and Functionality of Gutters in Northwest Arkansas

The primary purpose of gutters is to manage the flow of water from your roof, directing it away from your home's foundation. This prevents erosion, basement flooding, and damage to your foundation. Properly installed gutters and downspouts ensure that rainwater is efficiently diverted away from your home, reducing the risk of water-related issues.

Our Guttering Options

Seamless aluminum gutters are the most popular, most durable over time and will not wear down easily from the flow of rain or debris from your roof. Aluminum gutters are rust-proof, lightweight, and easy to install. Our gutters come in a variety of factory finished colors that complement your existing shingles or soffit and fascia trim.
Older, outdated gutter systems were installed with gutter spikes that are nailed through the front of the gutter into the fascia behind the gutter trough. Our guttering is installed with hidden hangers that are fastened with screws. This gives the gutter trough a more pleasant finished look and allows for adjustment during installation to ensure proper drainage.
Careful consideration to roof runoff area, roof steepness, number of downspouts, and length of trough should be taken into account when selecting gutter size. For many residential homes, 5 inch gutters are a sufficient option when designed with the proper number of downspouts. 5 inch gutters are the most commonly installed size.
Homes with heavier and wider fascia can benefit from the aesthetic look of a larger 6 inch gutter system. Much like a wider crown molding on an interior ceiling, the profile of a 6 inch "K style" gutter can enhance the exterior look of the home. Additionally, 6 inch gutters can be used to relieve extra heavy run-off in certain areas where roof slopes are particularly large and steep.
Many "builder grade" gutter installations use the smaller 2"X3" downspouts. We use oversized 3"x4" downspouts on both our 5 and 6 inch gutter systems. This allows for the quickest draining of water from the gutter troughs and helps flush debris through elbows and connections.

Benefits of a Well-Maintained Gutter System

  • Exterior Protection: Gutters protect the exterior walls, windows, and doors from water damage.
  • Preventing Mold and Mildew: Clean gutters reduce the risk of mold and mildew growth.
  • Enhanced Curb Appeal: Modern gutter systems add to the aesthetic value of your home.

Gutter Guards and Leaf Screens

Cleaning gutters is a task that no homeowner enjoys. It's time-consuming, often involves rank smells, and muddy messes. Midcon Exteriors offers gutter guard installation to help you prevent your gutters from clogging up. The right gutter protection may vary depending on the type of tree nearby. Do you have pine needles or oak leaves in your gutters? Consider these options and call us for a consultation today!
Small hole (1/16th in) powder coated steel screens are a great option where trees with larger leaves are a consideration. These come in both 5" and 6" options and are an economical option while being a higher grade than those found in big box stores.
Stainless steel mesh filters out roof grit, pine needles, and leaves. This higher end screen also deters mosquitoes, wasps, and other pests from taking up residence in your gutters.
Made of a hi-temper aluminum sheet that is perforated with small holes, gutter guards are formed to handle high water flow and large amounts of debris that accumulate on roofs.
